Children's House (3 to 6 years)
In this space, in addition to working on Practical Life, Sensory, Language and Mathematics , materials and opportunities are provided for the development of reading and writing, music and expression . The spontaneity in the creation of personal projects makes this group an ideal environment for learning. The classroom has direct access to the patio , allowing a fluid connection with the outside.
The morning work cycle consists of three uninterrupted hours of individual or group work, varying from day to day depending on the interests of the child.
Sensory explorers
In the stage of 3 to 6 years , learning occurs through the senses , which turns children into sensory explorers . They are full of curiosity and need an environment that responds to their desire to investigate , providing order, security, independence and autonomy. In this environment, they act freely following their inner teacher , within a freedom based on respect for themselves, others and the environment .
In this second childhood, the learning acquired in the previous stage is consolidated . As they grow, they become more aware of the group and begin to care for it and value it.

Workshop 1 (6 to 9 years)
Children at this stage are characterized by their need to investigate and explore in a practical way. Their curiosity leads them to question the world and develop greater awareness and imagination . In addition, at this age they tend to work collaboratively and cooperatively , which allows them to delve deeper into projects of interest, develop social skills and apply their own strategies in conflict resolution .
Active learning
In Workshop 1 , children do not learn passively or sit around waiting for instructions from an adult. They are the ones who decide what to investigate and explore using all the manipulative material available in the environment. The basis of knowledge and learning is based on Cosmic Education .
In addition to the core areas, children work on developing music, painting, gardening and sports , all within a trilingual environment (Basque, English and Spanish) .
Movement, imagination and relationships
During this stage, the need for movement is essential. At Montessori Gran Bilbao , the workshop environments , both indoors and outdoors, are spacious and encourage this movement, integrating it as part of everyday life.
This is the phase in which children learn the most throughout their lives, being tireless workers . Their capacity for abstraction reaches its peak and their creativity and imagination are enhanced through numerous collaborative projects . Thanks to the mix of ages, their need for interaction is met, since at this stage relationships with their peers occupy a central place in their lives.
Education in values
It is also the best time to teach and transmit values . Any situation, whether conflictual or not, becomes a learning opportunity . At our school, we apply Non-Violent Communication , a philosophy that has been integrated since our beginnings, which allows children to manage their emotions and relationships in a respectful and empathetic way.

Workshop 2 (9 to 12 years)
At this stage, children continue their learning process through active exploration, the development of collaborative projects and the strengthening of their critical thinking. The capacity for abstraction expands even further and their social and problem-solving skills are reinforced.
Workshop 2 represents the transition to adolescence, where students consolidate their autonomy, their sense of responsibility and their leadership capacity within the school community.
At Montessori Gran Bilbao we nurture the curiosity, autonomy and unique talent of each child, preparing them to build their own present and future.
